Excellent GPS for the money November 9, 2008 I don't think you can beat the price for a quality brand gps, $99 delivered including a nice leather case. I already own a TomTom 910 and wanted a small cheap one for my motorcycle.....no bells and whistles like some of the pricier gps's but the map software and direction commands are the same, also very simple to use for those that are tech. challanged.
Quickly Broke November 8, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Don't buy. I bought the new one and within a few weeks, it developed a problem locating satellites, causing it to take a while to become operational. After two months, it could not find any satellites, giving me a permanent message "Poor GPS Reception. Are you inside a building?"
Move on, buyers. Find another unit.
Simple GPS November 6, 2008 Got this for my husband who is not computer savvy and he loves it. It's easy to use, and is very accurate and inexpensive!
A great vacation enhancer November 3, 2008 Went on a trip recently to an area with which I was unfamiliar. I rented a car and was offered a rental GPS for $50. With the price difference I thought I may as well purchase the Tom Tom and have my own GPS. What a great item for the price! To any of the previous complainers ( ie doesn't verbalize the next road name or takes to long to find the satellites) the unit is less than $100 dollars for goodness sake, should it wash your dishes too? An absolute value, gets you where you ask to go. The trip included some city destinations and a pretty remote country destination and all went off without a hitch. GREAT PRODUCT!
A Copier Technician's review of the TomTom One Third Edition November 2, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'm a copier technician and I'm not familiar with the roads in the Richmond, VA and surrounding areas. The product came highly recommended by a good friend who owns the original TomTom. I really like the turn by turn directions given by the female voice. I had to download the American version of the voice, because in the US we say, "highway," not "motorway" for highway. I tried the funny voices like: Homer Simpson, Darth Vader, and others. They were so annoying, I just ended up deleting them. The TomTom One is not 100% accurate, but it gets me to where I want to be 95% of the time. Sometimes it will pass an address and have me going in circles. (It does not eliminate paying attention to street signs, and address signs.) Other times it will have me go through a parking lot, or a winding road to get to my destination, when I could have gone one more block to get to it without the scenic route.
Recently I had to look for a trailer because the building which was going to be a movie theater was under construction. The address was for the trailer, so the TomTom was confused. Although I was still directed to the general area, then I had to call a coworker for directions to my destination. I would recommend this product to others. It is a very useful tool. I bought a refurbished one because of the price. I liked the price. I appreciate Amazon for making that available to me. Even though it was refurbished, when I opened the box, it looked like new, had everything in it, instructions, data cable, windshield clip, and car charger. This product is a great tool for the copier technician. Helps me avoid getting lost.
