Lowrance iFinder GO GPS January 10, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a great product, with many quality features. Very well priced, quality, precision instrument. Recommend to others who need a low priced yet quality GPS.
Great basic unit- but don't pay retail January 8, 2007 I was looking for another GPS to replace my *old* Magellan 310. Something that had mapping. I found this unit after Christmas at REI (of all places!) on sale for $45.
Here is the short story on this unit. The road mapping is accurate, but basic, Major roads are shown, but no secondary roads. Images of local lakes are there, but not detailed (my lakehouse waypoint doesn't show it is located on the water) and are low resolution. The trail marking feature is right on and very useful. With this feature, I could (though I won't) put this in the pocket of the car and see exactly where my teen has traveled. On my boat I can exactly retrace my course with this feature. Battery life good, backlighting good (amber, with 2 levels of brightness).
All in all I am pleased for the money. If you are looking for super detailed maps and something to interface with a PC, then spend more. Would have been disappointed of I had paid $90-100 for it. It was an excellent value at price I paid.
Great for the price November 27, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We received this gps as a christmas gift last year and it's been great. It doesn't have all the features and speed of more expensive units, but for the price it can't be great. We use the unit for geocaching and it performs as well as our expeditionC in terms of accuracy. When we've been out caching with others it has out performed many others with it's accuracy too. The biggest downside, besides the map drawing speed, is that there isn't an easy way to connect to a computer. You can build a cable that will work well (not too hard), but it doesn't come with it.
I'd recommend this as a good starter unit for someone especially for the price!
Don't know what they are talking about? May 2, 2006 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I have to tell you. I read the other reviews and am not really sure what they expected for the price. You get so moch more compared to comperably priced units form other brands. I primarily use mine to geocache and will admit the inability to download coordinates from the computer would be nice but I didn't want to spend the money to get a unit that did that. As far as accuraccy I feel that this is very good, I have never had a problem finding my caches and have never had a problem getting a lock within a reasonable amount of time. Backlight is great, base map is adequate, navigation page is good. Basically you can get much, much better but not for this price. Perfect for the weekend geocacher, hiker, biker.
Very nice first handheld GPS November 17, 2005 I love this GPS. It's light and the buttons are clearly defined. The accuracy is great, although it's hard to get acquisition while moving, I suppose that's the same with all GPSrs. I've gone Geocaching already with it and it finds everything. I've once even got the accuracy within 3 feet, which was really nice. The only one con I can think of is that it is really slippery. I've almost dropped it twice, but was saved by the included wrist strap. Haven't gotten to test the water resistability, but I don't think I want to "test" it.
