For the price -- average. December 29, 2007 11 out of 14 found this review helpful
It works great and lives up to many expectations. However, there are a few deficiencies (not expected in a $600+ device) worth pointing out: (a) in the older Garmins models, one could see the address changing on display as one moved about. This helped especially in the night when house numbers etc are not readily visible. This model does not have it. (b) The older Garmin model also showed a scale on the map when zooming in / out. This one does not. Scales is very useful when using the Garmin. (c) Bluetooth is average. Allows you to only program one fast dial to home - should allow 5-10 at least. (d) read the fine print. MSN is not included. Traffic is included for 3 months only. (e) Traffic is not accurate - had issues in our drive around Austin and Dallas - alerts were not up to date at all. Forget getting any info on highways - I-35 was backed up for 4 hrs on 23 Dec near Austin and it did not pick it up (uess it works only for cities)
Great for a $350 device but 3 stars for the current prices. Everything else works as expected. I truly do not understand why many sites are clamouring for these models -- my guess is many of the reviewers are not too thorough and are easily fed Garmin's (or other companies') marketing lines.
Cheers!
Ding Sound Is Removed From Nuvi 760 (Sound You Get Just Before You Make A Turn) November 21, 2007 19 out of 23 found this review helpful
Unlike previous Nuvi models and unlike models of other competing makes; Garmin did remove the Ding Sound that you would hear just before you're supposed to make a turn.
When current road is excluded from route; the 760 completely changes the Entire route!
760 Battery is non replaceable.
Replacing Battery would cost between $200-$300 according to Garmin's Customer service.
Unit is very accurate with a superior display and excellent map.
Many useful features
