Great March 6, 2008 Great program. Maps well. Nice display. No activation codes to enter when installing.
Routing bugs, reluctance to fix them January 6, 2007 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I was a user and fan of iGuidance v2, but I cannot recommend iGuidance v3 until iNav addresses these issues:
On a recent trip between Boston and Buffalo, iGuidance v3 plotted a route that paralleled US Interstate 90 instead of taking it - check any roadmap to see for yourself how silly this is. (And no, "Route Options" not set on "local" - the route it plotted never varied no matter which of the 4 available Route Options were selected.) When I passed a highway exit it wanted me to take, iGuidance should have simply recalculated the route, but instead it locked up my PDA. Finally, it repeatedly advised me to take illegal u-turns on the Official Vehicles crossovers.
I work in software development and I know that every application has bugs. The concern comes when a manufacturer doesn't want to fix them. When I notified iNav of this problem, they repeatedly insisted that it wasn't a malfunction, it was just how their algorithm worked.
To be fair -- finally, reluctantly, iNav Support agreed to check their code. But I will remain suspicious of any software developed by a company that claims that their algorithm is OK even when it fails so obviously in a real-world situation.
Easy to use and map is great December 1, 2006 The map is quite accurate and up to date. The voice prompt is excellent. It prompts a couple of times before you make a turn. Easy to connect to GPS receiver, relatively fast on PDA, user interface is intuitive, and you can choose what map you want to load.
However, there are a few things it should improve:
1. If you install not to default location (C:\...), all shortcuts are wrong (they points to default location regardless of your choice). Do they have QA? 2. POI doesn't show on map. 3. If you load another map, it will overwrite pervious map. Why cannot they use multiple map files? 4. It is akward to enter an address (why they cannot provide a couple of text box?). Some times, it is difficult to get address right. It only allows you to enter either a street name or city name.
Beats others in its class October 11, 2006 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have an HP IPAQ rx3115 and Holux GPSlim 236.
Other software I have tried is MS streets & trips and also Delorme street atlas 2006 for handheld. Iguidance blows them both away. While the routing may not be perfect it gets you where you're going and recalculates quickly (within 10 seconds) if you get offtrack.
The map pans quickly. While it only says the names of major highways it still lets you know in advance where to turn. I use a mount up high on my dash so its a quick glance over to see the name of the road.
There are many tweaks you can do to customize the interface.
it does take some time to load the maps but this only has to be done once if you have enough memory space.
I guidance Rocks July 5, 2006 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
I Tried a couple of pda software included Microsoft pocket, and was disapointed for one resaon or the other. One hundred percent satify with this product. I guidance does exactly what it promise on the box.
