Amazon.com Product Description The NorCross Marine Sonic Laser Scale XP is a multifunction ultrasonic fish measuring device that doubles as a solid state digital scale. Traditional fish measuring devices require the user to lay a fish on a measuring board or stretch out a conventional measuring device. Well documented research indicates that laying a fish on its side creates considerable damage to internal organs and removes the valuable bacteria fighting slime. The Sonic-Laser Scale XP lets you pick the fish out of the water using a stress free lip grip, weigh the fish with a corrosion free digital scale, and measure the length without allowing human interaction with its delicate body. User programming input allows automatic access to minimum and maximum weight and length requirements for tournament release guidance and aids in allowing you to obey local fishing regulations. The XP is exceptionally easy to use-- simply squeeze the lip grip open, attach it to the fish's mouth, and hold the fish vertical with its tail slightly touching a solid object, such as the ground and a boat deck. The scale then makes its readings using laser-guided ultrasound. It's easy, clean, and extremely efficient. The scale calculates fish length from 5 to 60 inches and weighs (in ounces, pounds or kilograms) fish as large as 100 pounds, giving you plenty of wiggle room. And thanks to the corrosion-free, solid-state mechanism, you needn't worry about the device suffering a mechanical breakdown, as there are no moving parts. The user-programmable memory, meanwhile, lets you program the minimum and maximum weight and length for up to 10 fish species. Once the XP is programmed, the Auto mode compares the measurements of any fish you catch against the prescribed limits, then gives you a "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" icon. Other details include an embedded wax board and pencil that keep track of the memory programming; a Hold mode that lets you lock the display on the current reading while in a rocking boat; a tare feature that offsets the reading to zero to accommodate weigh bags or containers; a backlit, polarized LCD display that's easy to read even when wearing polarized glasses; and a laser pointer that shows where the ultrasound is aimed. This waterproof, impact-resistant device requires a single 9-volt battery (not included) and is also backed by a two year warranty.
