Brick S**t house April 9, 2008 This case is awesome.
The plastic appears to be indestructible. It has a water-proof O-ring / gasket, solid construction all throughout, including a beefy latch that closes securely, and a feeling of heft without being heavy.
It's *not* a nimble case. It's a vault. Put your ipod or other gizmo (I use mine for a M-audio microtrackMicro Track 2 with just a little gasket modification) and it'll be safe.
Plus, the lifetime warranty should make you feel secure.
If you want complete protection this case provides it.
Safe and secure June 26, 2007 The i1030 is for someone wanting to keep their iPod safe and secure from bumps, scrapes and drops. You cannot listen to the ipod while the i1030 is closed. However, it works as a nice holding device on an airplane for example where you can also store your earplugs and camera uploading cords. I used it open on the airplane with the ipod nicely perched inside where you can easily see the screen if necessary. I wasn't as paranoid about taking my iPod out of it's speaker dock at home and carrying half way 'round the country as I usually would've been without this great "suit case" for your sounds and movies.

Yes, you too can defy the laws of physics with this case!
But seriously, Pelikan makes excellent cases. I use them for my telescope equipment and other electronics.
The apple store has a similar item that actually allows you to plug headphones into the sealed case and listen with it shut.
