Amazon.com Product Description
The GPSMap 3010C launches Garmin into the world of marine networking by offering a plug-and-play system that puts GPS navigating, weather forecasting, sonar and radar readings, and other important data at boaters' fingertips. Equipped with a 12-parallel-channel WAAS-enabled GPS receiver, the 3010C lets users easily navigate everything from small waterways to large oceans, with position formats for latitude and longitude, UTM, Loran TDs, Maidenhead, MGRS, and a user grid. The 3010C also includes a built-in worldwide basemap with cities, interstates, coastline detail, and U.S. tide stations, along with 4,000 user waypoints, 50 reversible routes, a 10,000-point automatic track log, and 15 saved tracks that let you retrace your path in both directions.

Users can easily decipher information from the GPSMap 3010C thanks to the sunlight-readable, 256-color VGA display with a 10.4-inch diagonal screen. The multifunction display is powered by a high-speed processor and graphics controller, which quickly redraws charts and weather graphics. These units communicate with the Garmin Marine Network through a 100-megabit, Garmin-proprietary, Ethernet-based network. The entire system is waterproof and completely plug-and-play, automatically detecting any and all peripherals once they're connected. Boaters can also connect a GPS antenna and one remote sensor directly to the display, or, with the addition of the GMS 10 Network Port Expander, boaters can connect multiple displays and sensors to the same network. Each networked display can be configured independently.

A unique feature to the Garmin Marine Network is its compatibility with the GDL 30 weather data receiver (sold separately). Through a partnership with XM WX Satellite Weather, mariners can--for the first time--access real-time U.S. graphical weather data on their 3010C navigators without needing a separate PC interface. For users who want more than 120 channels of XM satellite radio to go with their weather data, Garmin also offers the GDL 30A, which provides a unique audio-channel interface on the 3010C that connects to an onboard stereo. The GPSMap 3010C also can receive sonar data through the GSD 20 (also sold separately), a proprietary "black box" sounder that offers 4,000 watts of peak-to-peak power (500 watts RMS) in a dual-frequency transducer. In addition, the Garmin Marine Network will be compatible with Garmin's 2005 marine radar system.

Additional features include two composite video inputs for onboard cameras; navigation voice prompts; remote operation via an optional Garmin infrared remote control; audible alarms for anchor drag, off course, arrival, shallow water, and deep water; and built-in celestial tables for sun and moon calculations. The device measures 13.1 by 8.8 by 3.25 inches (W x H x D) and weighs approximately 4.5 pounds.
