I liked this so much I upgraded to another Garmin. January 6, 2009 This was my first GPS. I liked it so much I upgraded to another Garmin with a bigger screen and gave this one to my daughter.
Get a newer model! December 4, 2008 Well, this unit will certainly get you there and I love the compact size (I have the almost identical i3), but I'd just like to warn people away from buying this older, and now discontinued model -- especially at this inflated price. There are newer and more advanced units available for less than 200 these days. Also, the baseball-like shape isn't too pocketable and this doesn't have a touch screen, which will slow you down when you're entering a destination. And since it has been discontinued a while, I doubt that it is loaded with the lastest maps.
Never get lost again November 17, 2008 Now I can no longer live without GPS. Works like a dream, and makes being away form home even better. I can look up local restaurants, or even find a gas station on the way to a distant friends home.
Garmin Streetpilot i5 GPS November 12, 2008 The Garmin StreetPilot i5 has proved less than reliable. Sadly, it takes you in completely the wrong direction far to often. When programing in a favorite restaurant the Garmin i5 was 5 blocks short of the correct destination and on the incorrect side of the road. The Garmin i5 has given routing instructions that would drive you into the Missouri river instead of the correct left hand turn (and only option). The Garmin i5 in another instance said the destination was 300 miles away when it was essentially across the street. These are just a few of the errors the Garmin i5 has made. The technical support people were polite but only suggested a new map update. The unit was brand new when making these "mistakes" and I don't want to spend more money for a map update when it should have had correct mapping in the beginning. If you want a high percentage of accuracy finding your destination it's not the Garmin i5.
Not that great August 9, 2008 I have had this product less than 1 month. I will exchanging it on Monday. It has already gone out. It was used less than 5 times.
