Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Gilsson Portable Beanbag Mount is a great base to mount your Garmin, Magellan, Mio, TomTom, Mio, Lowrance, Motorola, Apple iPod, iPhone, Blackberry, Cell Phone, MP3 or other portable electronics devices.Beanbag weighs almost 2 pounds, just heavy enough to make sure your electronic device stay at the same place despite of sudden or abrupt maneuvering. Gilsson tested it in various sedans and sports cars and found Gilsson's beanbag mount very stable and works great. This portable mount is also great, because it does not leave any ugly adhesive residues on your dashboard and allows you to hide the GPS from thieves when exiting your vehicle.

3 out of 5 stars Does this thing have a center that is plastic or metal?   November 20, 2008

Does this thing have a center that is plastic or metal. I have the round one that has the center pice that is "PLASTIC" does anyone know what happens to plastic when you put it in on the dash???? Remember the old casetes the would not play after you left them in the sun or in the back window? If you are old enought you remember the old 45's that you carred around in the back window and them tryed to play them, it was like going on a back dirt road. Anyway puting this thing in the sun will worp the plastic center as mine did and now the thing will not hold the GPS. I plan on cutting out the center out and replacing it with a pice of METAL.

5 out of 5 stars So happy I bought this!   November 13, 2008

Yes, the shipping is more than the item itself, but trust me...it's so worth it!
I had issues with my Tomtom XLS suction mount even sticking to my windshield, the little plastic disk that you can stick to your dashboard didn't work either. Based on the reviews I decided to get this mount and I am so glad I did!
I live in a city known for it's hills and HORRIBLE roads (potholes! Oh my god!!!!). This little beanbag stays in place and doesn't budge at all!!!!
Absolutely worth ANY price!

5 out of 5 stars Very excellent high quality GPS mount for my Garmin C580   October 9, 2008

I ordered this Gilsson UBM-1 GPS dashboard mount for my Garmin C580 GPS only two days ago and received it today. It is very well constructed and a little heavier than some competing products (meaning it should be more stable). Before purchasing, I looked at several competing products (like the "Garmin Portable Friction Dashboard Mount for Nuevi Series and StreetPilot C5XX Series GPS Navigators", "Bracketron UFM-100BL Nav-Mat GPS Friction Dash Pad", and others. Based upon some of the reviews I read from all the units, I ended up purchasing this unit. One reviewer in particular had actually owned three GPS beanbag mounts and thought this was the best. It is heavier than most, but has a smaller footprint than the Garmin unit, which is important to me because my dashboard already has a some clutter (a compass) glued to the center of it, meaning space is at a premium. Also, the GPS mounts at the top of the beanbag, not in a hole, which I considered to be an advantage.

I purchased this Gilsson UBM-1 GPS beanbag dash mount from an independent seller on amazon.com (fis4her_gps_gear ) for $12.99 plus $5.99 for priority mail shipping. The item was shipped within a couple hours after I ordered and arrived at my home in Michigan (from california) in just two days. I highly recommend them also.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent product   August 15, 2008

This item worked like a charm, once it is placed on the dash, even at a steep angle, it stays put and never moves. It is easy to snap the gps unit into place and remove it when you're through. It was much nicer using this device rather than the suction cup on the windshield, and no unsightly mark that screams to every would be thief "GPS unit available here." I have recommended it to family and friends who are ready to purchase a GPS for their vehicles.

5 out of 5 stars Better than a windshield mount & well worth the S/H   July 25, 2008

To the guy who refused to buy this thing because of the shipping and handling fees - it's your loss. This thing is great. It stays put. The gps sits closer to me so I can see it - it doesn't block my view - I can remove it from the dash without the tell-tale sign that there was a gps mounted, and I've never trusted the suction cup-on-the-windshield device anyway. If your dashboard is severely sloped then maybe a windshield mount would be better, but I think most "standard" dashboards will accommodate this thing quite well. I would pay $35 - $40 for this plus the $15 s/h. Getting it at $9 plus the same s/h is a real bargain!
