USB to Serial cable for Garmin GPS III plusNovember 14, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Just purchased the USB to serial cable for my older Garmin GPS III+ (my new computer doesn't have a serial port). The driver software loaded easily. I initally got a hardware install error when the device was plugged in. I opened the "Device Manager" and uninstalled the device then the ran "New Hardware Wizard" which correctly installed the GPS device. The data transfer went smoothly with MapSource. Probably should have just tried to simply "plug-and-play" rather than install the device driver in hindsight.
Easy to installJuly 5, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I wanted to connect my old Garmin 12MAP GPS to my PC using a USB cable. This cable was just what I needed. Installation was easy and it works both under Windows XP and Windows Vista.
Does not work on 64-bit VistaJune 10, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Just a warning that while this is probably a fine product, it will not work with 64-bit OS. There are no drivers for 64-bit Vista OS for this (or any other serial to USB adapter) yet.
Works well on a MacApril 28, 2008 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I bought this adapter to use with my Garmin Geko 201 handheld GPS receiver and a Garmin-compatible serial cable and it works well. I did have to download the PL2303 driver [...]because the included drivers on the CD were older and I was running Mac OS X 10.5.2. After installing the new driver and rebooting, I tested it with several programs and was able to successfully transfer data in both directions. The driver disc is a 3" CD and will not load into a slot-loading CDR - which is another reason you may need to download drivers online.
