Amazon.com Product Description
The Victorinox Rescue Tool was developed and perfected in conjunction with emergency medical and rescue services in a five-year project. All parts have been subject to stringent tests, particularly the new window breaker and disc saw tools. The Rescue Tool includes the most essential functions for freeing a person from a disabled vehicle, including a rounded belt cutter which can be used to safely cut through a seat belt. All tools that have to be available quickly can be opened wearing gloves and are suitable for both right-handed and left-handed users. The one-handed blade and strong screwdriver (crate opener) are fixed in position when open thanks to the liner lock mechanism. The look of the Rescue Tool is unique as well with its luminescent yellow grip shells and bright red and yellow nylon case.

The title of Knife of the Year 2007 was awarded to the Victorinox Rescue Tool during the IWA, the largest knife exhibition in the world. The IWA International Knife Award has become an international reference and quality label: the Rescue Tool was picked among 77 knives from 34 exhibitors coming from 9 countries.

About Swiss Army Knives
In 1884, Swiss cutler Karl Elsener set up shop in Ibach-Schwyz, installing a waterwheel in Tobelbach Brook to run his grinding and polishing machines. Thus began what would become the international brand name Victorinox, a combination of Victoria, for Elsener's mother, and "inox," or stainless steel. Today, Victorinox produces watches, luggage, clothing, and, famously, Swiss Army Knives. The forerunner of that name dates to 1897, when Elsener patented the Swiss Officer's and Sports Knife he supplied to the Swiss Army. Following World War II, American servicemen and women shopping in PX stores shortened the name to Swiss Army Knife, which lives on in English-speaking countries around the world and has become a metaphor or versatility.

5 out of 5 stars Well-built and tough   December 1, 2008
This tool is certainly up to the task. As another reviewer said, this is no pocket knife. It is a large tool for tough, life-depends-on-it jobs. Can be operated while wearing gloves! True to Victorinox heritage, it is well-designed and high quality.

5 out of 5 stars Top Quality Knife Tool   September 18, 2008

All Victorinox knives are top quality. This Rescue Tool
is no exception. It is packed with features, comes with a cool
belt case, and can be truly useful in many situations. I really
like the one I bought and would buy it again.

4 out of 5 stars Looks better in picture   August 15, 2008

Under product description.. on right hand side there is nice photograph which says "knife of Year 2007". Actual product doesn't look that good. That photo graph is almost 9 times (I am trying to be reasonable) better then product it self. Since I was expecting extremely gorgeous knife... first impression was kind of disappointing.

Good thing about knife is that its razor sharp.... I didn't realize that until I saw some blood on my finger. Also Its not "made in china" ... Its very well built.

Its big ... you cant call it a pocket knife. If you keep your PDA in one pocket keep this in other pocket to balance weight. Upon receiving product if you dont like it .... dont return next day... wait for few days. It will grow on you. You will love it.

5 out of 5 stars The best from Victorinox   July 26, 2008

I am knife collector and I can tell this one is the best from Victorinox (Swiss Army) and one of my best knives among more than 200 knives. Price is very reasonable, and the most important thing is this one still is Swiss Made not Chinese
