Excellent device, Just what I needed!!!!! April 29, 2008 I ordered this pedestal for my XM radio. I love it. Before the radio sat in a cubby hole in the dash. If we wanted to see who was singing or change the station we pulled it out of its little space. This could be hazardous while driving. But now it hangs up and we are able to view it from driver side or passenger side. I have hung it high and adjusted it so it is not obstructing the driver. I also ordered the remote for the radio, so we are set. Of note: it was a little difficult to twist into the position I wanted, but with a little time and patience it should work.
does the job April 4, 2008 great holder for my xm radio, can get a little bouncy, but absolutely better than the vent clips provided by xm
At 14 Inches, It Grows On You February 18, 2008 The Arkon pedestal works very well because it is sturdy, well built and it makes using my XM radio a lot more easier than with the vent clips all of the XM units come with. At first I thought that 14 inches might be a little long, but I have grown used to the fact that it makes the display very easy to see and the buttons on the unit a lot easier to use. And I don't have to worry about the unit falling off while I am driving down a bumpy road or a crappy Southern California freeway. A best buy for sure!
GPS/other windshield pedestal January 12, 2008 I was having some trouble with vent mount holders for my gps setup using my cell phone as the gps. The plastic part on the holder that slides onto the pda mount that holds the phone had sheered off twice, so I was looking for another way. This long pedestal seems to work for me because this can use the dashboard for support so it is not just hanging in space and putting stress on the plastic part from bumps and the normal movements of the car. The pedestal is long enough that you can mount it down low to use the dash for support even on cars with very deep dashboards.
Long enough, sturdy enough and goshdarnit, it sticks! September 5, 2007 This is the second one I bought of these goodnecks--this one was for my father in law who has a Sirius Stiletto. (I love Siriius radio, but the mounts that come with them stink--if the windshield gets too cold or too hot the mount simply loses all suction and falls off, but this isn't about them.) It's a long enough gooseneck that it can reach across long dashboards ( I have a Nissan Murano) and it's also flexible enough that you can put your radio, gps, radar detector, etc. within good reach. I installed mine about a year ago and it's still exactly where I put it; it has stayed stuck to my windshield over of the bumpy potholed streets of Brooklyn and it has not budged even through the frigid New York winter and the sweltering summer. And it comes off easily when you want it to by releasing the suction with a lever. It will bounce a little bit over rough roads, but you can get around that by resting the goosneck on the dash or something solid, (mine is suspended in the air) but I've never found that to be a problem. The bracket that physically attaches to the your electronic device is fairly universal and should fit most satellite radios, gps units and on. And the price is right! My advice if you're on the fence...get it!
